Shahjahan Alam contributed to the feasibility study for water supply and sanitation schemes under the proposed Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation Project, Package BMWSSP/SD-16, for the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE). His work covered electromechanical studies and detailed design of water and sanitation infrastructure.

Engineering scope

Water-supply and sanitation infrastructure, including intake and pumping facilities, water treatment, elevated storage, faecal-sludge treatment and solid-waste treatment. The assignment also covered supporting power-supply arrangements and coordination of design data.

Undertake surveys, project studies and technical coordination.
Prepare and update feasibility-study reports.
Develop electromechanical designs for intakes, pump stations, treatment plants and overhead tanks.
Calculate solar PV and substation requirements for water-supply systems.
Prepare detailed design drawings, reports, estimates, BOQs and technical specifications.

Contribution

His contribution connected feasibility planning with detailed electromechanical design, equipment requirements and procurement documentation, supporting coordinated development of municipal water and sanitation schemes.
